Overdraft Protection
Tips to help you avoid overdraft fees:
-
Record your transactions
Record every deposit and withdrawal—including checks, recurring payments like your car payment or utility payment, debit card purchases, cash withdrawals and fees, and online payments. -
Know your available balance
Use free services from First Texas Bank, including Online Banking, Timeless Teller, or our ATMs to check your available balance and compare it to your records. Remember that some checks and automatic payments may not have cleared. -
Review your account statements each month
Between statements, you can find out which payments have cleared and check your balance by calling Customer Service or by checking online. -
Set up Alerts
Set up an email or text alert in our Online Banking system. Alerts can be set up to be sent each night when you balance falls below an amount that you select. This service is free to you. View our online Alert Messages' Instructions. -
Apply for a Line of Credit
If approved, our line of credit, Ready Credit, advances in $100.00 increments to cover the insufficient item (only up to approved amount and as long as it is not past due on payments). Ready Credit does not have fees, but does accrue interest due based on the advanced balance. -

Our Small Dollar Loan Program can loan up to $2,500 with a term of 90 days or more, and has no origination fees. This loan program is streamlined with proof of identity, address, and income, and a credit report. The loan decision is made within 24 hours. We offer financial counseling seminars that may assist you in minimizing insufficient fees twice each year. -
